When you talk local SEO strategy to most, the only thing they relate it to is blogs and keyword clouding, but realistically there’s so much more to be done.
Have you ever done a search for a company in Google (who am I kidding, that’s all we do all day). Well you see the box on the right? Most people think that just magically appears and that Google must have more information on some companies than others… But since I don’t believe in magic, here’s the truth. That little box is powered by Google My Business.
And it can have a major impact on your sites performance. How many people do you think look up your address, hours of operation and contact numbers on Google? Let me tell you it’s way above 60% of your clientele. So why then, don’t we updated our holiday hours on the first place our Customers are looking Because most of the people responsible for keeping things up to date in the digital space weren’t around when this platform was the only kind of social media there was.
If you look at the statistics about the “Social” platform behind Google, Google Plus, you will notice that it has the 2nd highest number of active users behind FaceBook. It’s also owned by Google, so guess what? It’s going to be a brilliant step in your search for Organic Results.
Not only is Google Plus a well-used platform but just last month Google announced that direct posting to Google My Business was now available to all small Business.. In the past, it was only available to political parties, but Google now sees this as a way small business can effectively communicate with their audience.
Far from being just another social site Google has strict guidelines on posting and so as not to be out of date they are removing your posts after 7 days, or event expiry. What a great way to get in front of your Customers before your competition.
There is so much to love about this platform that I could talk all day so I will leave it at this. As a small business, find yourself someone who loves Google products as much as I do and watch your Organic reach explode.
Facebook gets you followers, Instagram gets you Likes, Pinterest gets you pins, but Google gets you noticed!
